Community Care Fetac Level 5
Are you interested in the Caring Profession and working with the Elderly? The Back to Education Initiative (Co. Carlow VEC) will be delivering the Community Care
Fetac Level 5 modules in the Tullow area in September 2009. Modules will include Care for the Older Person, Safety & Health at work and First Aid.
Courses are free of charge to those who have either left school early, are unemployed, hold a medical card or are outside the labour market (e.g. Home maker/Home carer).

SLANEY SCHOOL OF MUSIC: Tullow Parish Centre
Music lesions will commence in Tullow Parish Centre on Friday 11th September.
Classes are suitable for pupils from senior infants up to secondary school. Pupils are welcome from all local schools.
Tuition is provided for keyboard, tin whistle, accordion (button and piano) and recorder.

TAX RECLAIM FORMS FOR 2008
We again thank all the parishioners who returned their Tax Reclaim Forms for 2007 earlier this year. The tax reclaim has been made and received as already published.
These reclaims have to be made separately for each year and we recently sent out the forms for last year—i.e. the year ended December 31st 2008. We again appeal to anyone who got those forms or anyone who believes they are in that category to please return the CHY2 forms as soon as possible so that the relevant tax for 2008 can be reclaimed. We thank you for your co-operation in this scheme.

Captain’s (Billy Watchorn) Prize will take place at Mount Wolseley on Saturday 12th September. Tee times from 9.50 a.m. to 11.15 a.m.
The Captains Prize is the highlight of our golfing year and it is also our final outing for 2009. Dinner and prize giving will take place at the Mt. Wolseley the same evening.

DAISY DAYS: Aware’s national event to raise funds to defeat depression and suicide takes place throughout Ireland on Sept 10th, 11th and 12th. The organisers are seeking volunteers to organise the event in Tullow. Phone Carmel on 085 1640354.

St. Patrick’s G.F.C.
St. Pats hurlers play the Co J.H.C. semi final on Saturday next September 12th against St. Mullins in McGrath Park at 6 p.m. The senior football relegation play off has been provisionally fixed for Saturday September 19th at a time and venue to be announced.

SCHOOL REUNION
A 20 year reunion for Tullow Community School, class of 1989 has been organised for Saturday 26th September in The Tara Arms at 8.30 p.m.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT: Trip to The Aboretum, Leighlinbridge next Thursday 10th September. Bus leaving Church Car Park at 2.45 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Juvenile Hurling & Football Club would like to thank those that came along and supported the U12 hurlers at the recent final and well done to the team on retaining the Dunphy Shield. The U16 footballers will meet Clonegal in the final on Sept 8th in Dr. Cullen Park at 6.30 p.m. U10 footballers have reached the B final, date and venue to be decided. The Garda U10 football tournament will be held on September 13th.

Tullow Day Care Centre wishes to thank Tullow Show committee for facilitating them with their fundraiser “Guess the combined weight of both animals”. They also wish to thank John Kelly of A.I.B. for sponsoring the prize of 200. Also Robert McGrath for organising and looking after the animals and the staff and volunteers who helped out on the day. The winner was John Broughan, Coppenagh, Tullow.

CANCER:
The Shock and Fear.
The experience of being diagnosed with cancer and how we respond. On Monday 7th September at 8 p.m. Eileen Cahill will talk of her journey. The talk will be held in Sli an Chroi, St. Patrick’s Kiltegan. You do not have to be diagnosed with cancer to attend. Anyone is welcome. Questions and discussion will the presentation.
