“THIS IS MY BODY”
Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it to his friends saying:
Take this all of you and eat it
This is my body which is given for you
For life and health and happiness
This is my body, my blood, life pumping around by body for you
This meal is my day’s work for you
This is my sweat for you
This meal is a reminder that I was taken from heaven, blessed with a family and friends, broken on the cross and given for you so you will be taken, blessed, broken like bread and given for others
For life, for love.
This meal, this sacrifice of self for others was always about love, never duty or obligation
Love—unconditional love.

NEW PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: We welcome the formation of our new Parish Pastoral Council and thank the members sincerely for the training they have undergone over the past few months. The parish pastoral council is a leadership group through which priests and people work together as partners in furthering the mission of Christ in our own place. It does this through building up a vibrant Christian community that is rooted in baptism and marked by its faith, worship and service.
The primary ministry of the parish pastoral council is to collaborate in planning the way forward for the parish at this given time. It is primarily concerned with promoting action through pastoral planning; it is not immediately responsible for implementation of projects but ensures that the projects are carried out. In this way the council enables members of the parish to recognise their gifts for ministry and to use them for the good of the parish and its mission.
In our prayers today we wish the Council well and we look forward to working together for the benefit of all. Sr. Elizabeth Murphy, Br. Camillus Regan, Sr. Mary Dalton, Helen Cooper, Catherine Rooney, Geraldine Byrne, Martin O’Halloran, Larry Kavanagh, James Orbinski, Martin Savage, Seamus Murphy, Christy McQuinn, Eileen Good.

VOCATIONS SUNDAY: 3rd May:
Today marks the end of the nationwide Year of Vocation. In the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin we are very pleased that we will have at least two students joining the four whom we already have in formation for priesthood.
Priesthood today is a radical option. In a world which seems to struggle with the ideas of ‘calling’ the choice to study for priesthood is a dramatic witness to a belief that God knows us and holds us in the palm of His hand. And also, that He calls us into being for a definite plan to play a particular role in His loving plan for the world.
Five days of prayer for Vocations: Marriage, Single life, Priesthood, Religious life. Monday 4th May—Friday 8th May. Leaflets available at Church doors.
If you would like to explore the possibility of a vocation to priesthood please contact with our diocesan Vocations Direector, Fr. Ruairi O’Domhnaill @ 045 434069 to check out the website www.kandle.ie\vocations

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Loving God,
each member of our family is a special gift from You.
You have given us each gifts and talents to share with others and to help us live life in all its fullness.
Help us to know how to encourage and support each other so that we can respond generously to our Baptismal call.
Help us to foster a culture of vocations in our family and parish so that each will respond to that call to serve You through the vocations of marriage, single life, ordained ministry or religious life.
Help us to be aware that You are with us as we strive to become the kind of people You call us to be.
We make this prayer through Jesus who lived his call to the full. Amen.

Amen.
